Anecdotal Evidence of a Life

Nyonu is a writer, journalist, producer, and activist. Born in Philadelphia, she spent the majority of her childhood in New York, where the mini-est versions of her explored the possibilities of connection and friendship by extending a broad, gap-toothed grin and a "Hi lady! Hi mister!" to as many strangers as she possibly could in her well lived-in pockets of Queens, Long Island, and the Bronx.

Evocation of her youth produces technicolor memories starring some of the most alive people you could ever hope to meet. She encountered humanity, curiosity, and the life-saving nature of a sense of humor early and took them with her as she lived many lives in many places. Even today, she refuses to leave home without them.

Nyonu's words have been published in editorials, books, scholarly journals, and zines. Her work was most recently recognized in March 2023 by the American Advertising Federation; by whom she was awarded three Gold Medals as well as a Judge's Citation for Copywriting, and in November of 2023 by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals' (AMCP) MarCom Awards, for which her work was awarded a platinum and two gold awards.
